DIAMOND MOUNTAIN

Located on a bench of land cut into a hillside above a winery and surrounded by vineyards of the Diamond Mountain district of Napa Valley, this contemporary residence stands as the culmination of a suite of buildings designed for this client. Beginning with a restoration of the historic Cole House and followed by the addition of a new winery, this house completes the evolution toward modernity.

The home overlooks a valley where a number of land forms intersect, but the presence of Mount St. Helena is the most dominant feature. The design continually references the mountain range as well as other more focused, local views, using the contemporary architectural expression to frame both the manicured vineyards and the rugged terrain beyond.
