SHOWA KINEN KOEN

Located on the northern edge of Tokyo's spectacular national park, Showa Kinen Koen, this luxurious senior living community is designed to take full advantage of its storied site. Levering the concept of borrowed landscape, the complex is conceived as becoming “one with the park.” The wooded entry drive skirts the park's edge, and the fan-shaped buildings are oriented to ensure every one of the 645 residential units enjoys a view of the park. The outward faces are balanced by significant interior spaces, which modulate the outdoor orientation and framed views.
