PACIFIC HEIGHTS

The Pacific Heights neighborhood, with its views of San Francisco Bay and surrounding hills, is home to this landmark residence originally designed and built in 1924 by the architect G. Albert Lansburgh for himself. Unable to satisfy the demands of contemporary living, the home was seismically updated, the stucco exterior was preserved and restored (work included the addition of a 2-story bay window featuring cantilevered balconies), and the interiors were completely transformed to meet the needs of the family and their collection of modern art. The resulting composition is a prime example of thoughtful historic preservation and adaptive re-use.
